Few yacht clubs run out of water quite as quickly and quite so much as Lydney! It’s been said ‘If you can sail on the Severn you can sail anywhere’. This is true but we pride ourselves on being able to get even a complete novice onto the water and sailing very quickly. Lydney enjoys some useful back eddies behind the pier which makes a safe sailing area at most states of the tide.
The club atmosphere is friendly, open and un-stuffy and whilst we cannot issue RYA certificates, we can teach anyone to enjoy safe, interesting sailing.
The club has plenty of room for boat storage and car parking. The slip is accessible for a couple of hours either side of high water and there are Trot moorings for visiting yachts. We have shower and changing facilities, a bar and kitchen. The club is normally open on weekends when the tides are favourable for sailing and some evenings during the Summer.
We also have monthly club social evenings, and the bar is open most Friday evenings, a great place for members to get to know each other or listen to interesting and educational lectures out of the sailing season. If you are thinking of joining us, a chat at the bar on a Friday evening is also a great way to find out more... contact a member of the committee and arrange a visit.
