HELP AND AN OFFER a letter to club members from Kevin Barker

Dear Member

Unfortunately I have been diagnosed with a medical problem which will stop me sailing dinghies, although cruisers should still be ok.  It’s a Question of balance (to coin a musical title).

So I shall probably be selling my Wayfarer – Banana Split which has been at the Club for the last two summers, wintered in a garage.

I wondered if anybody had a view on the price of Wayfarers at the moment and if anyone was interested in buying. If a Club Member was interested in buying I would sell to them at the bottom end of the price range and would consider payment by instalments.

Banana Split is a Westerley Mark 11 Wayfarer GRP sail number 6587 with main slab reefing and roller furling genoa. She was unbeaten on the water last year, although I chose my races and crew carefully, but she is a nifty craft. The sale includes galvanised combi trailer and trolley, new cover, full suite of sails all in good condition including full main, genoa, plus storm jib, spinnaker, anchor and outboard bracket. She has black anodised mast and boom, self bailer and windex hawk. All controls are centralised, woodwork varnished gel coat in good nick. She is a cracking boat.

She was sold to me in 2008 for £2600 and since then the roller reefing has been added at a cost of £500 but I have no idea on current prices.

Anyone who can help or who is interested please email kevinbarker@klmb.co.uk or phone 07899 901977.

Thanks

Kevin

  1. Hi Kevin

Sorry to hear that you have to give up sailing dinghies for medical reasons.

When Hayley and I bought Golden Giggle we had a look at the Wayfarer Association’s website and eBay to get an idea of what prices these were being sold for.

Alec Paige is looking to buy a Wayfarer so how about giving him a call. He did tell me that he only checks the email address that we have for him at weekends so I think a call may be the best way to advise him of the sale of Banana Split.
