Next month (Friday 29) the club’s annual sortie begins into the Bristol Channel under the guise of The Summer Cruise; a pub crawl in boats! This is an incredibly popular club event (and the envy of other clubs) so I do recommend that you take part in it if at all possible. This means that those with boats need to have them ready whilst those wishing to crew need to make themselves known either to skippers or to me so that I can circulate your name to skippers. The fleet is usually made up of open boats, small and medium sized cruisers so there is often a choice of boat type.
The whole week is about enjoying ourselves both in port and on the water where fleet sailing can be a lot of fun. There is a programme for the week but this is only a guide as often the weather and/or other events cause for adjustments to be made as we go.
Whatever happens we reflect on having had a very good week in good company so it is well worth going! I would like to hear from all those intending to take part this year, skippers and crew, so that I have some idea of numbers and berths available.
I can crew for someone on a boat with a lid – I like my cuppa char out of the rain !!
Just to say to any NEW MEMBERS who would like to crew for all or part of this event – please email Peter on plockwood@aic.co.uk to say what you can do and he will try to fix you up on one of the boats.
